Description :

•            Providing financial reporting, financial management and related public spending risk advice to different partners and working with colleagues within HM Treasury, government departments and other partners to ensure spending remains consistent with government fiscal strategy

•            Leading as an account manager and providing support and guidance on the public finance implications (including financial reporting and budgeting/national accounts implications) from across the different frameworks including financial reporting and budgeting/National Accounts of spending decisions and policies. Support others to embed and improve decision making

•            Building effective working relationships and links with colleagues from across government and our Relevant Authority counterparts

•            Contributing to embedding the budgeting, parliamentary and accounting frameworks across government. Ensure we build the right incentives for spending control, value for money and accountability. This includes supporting and maintaining key guidance including the Financial Reporting Manual.

•            Leading the implementation of new accounting standards in the public sector, and collaborating with other Relevant Authorities on new standards, particularly to ensure consistency for Whole of Government Accounts.

•            Leading on specific policy areas as part of our role to improve the quality of financial reporting across the public sector. You will have responsibility for leading the process, liaison with interested parties and implementation.

•            Identifying and delivering areas of training about the public spending framework to colleagues across Whitehall and to international delegations as required.

•            Preparing and presenting papers to the Financial Reporting Advisory Board on behalf of HM Treasury. These will include public sector financial reporting issues and set out relevant implications of advice and analysis on public sector financial reporting
